It’s that time of year again…from November-April wedding industry professionals like to call this stretch of time “Engagement Season”. We love this time of the year we get to meet a whole new group of amazing brides that have chosen us to help them look their absolute best on the wedding day.  This is a great time of the year in your wedding planning process to start thinking about your Bridal Trial, and what your own personal bridal style looks like. With so many wedding trends each season this can seem overwhelming, but don’t worry, we’re hear to help.

 

HOW TO CHOOSE THE PERFECT WEDDING HAIRSTYLE

While you may have already chosen the outfit that you are planning to wear down the aisle, deciding on your dream look for your wedding day is just as important. There are endless options to choose from when deciding on the perfect wedding hairstyle, but unless you have multiple looks planned throughout your day, you’ll likely be settling on one. Before you don a veil for your big day, coiffing your hair into a stunning style is an absolute must. But, how can you decide what is the best look (and how to prep your tresses) to match your wedding vision? Well, we’re here to help. Here are some helpful tips to choose your dream bridal style:

• Start preparing an inspiration board. You can find some naturally glam bridal look on our Pinterest Page.
• Make sure you have everything ready to bring to your trial: hair accessories, veil if wearing and clip in hair extensions if adding to your hairstyle.
• Consider the style of your wedding dress when choosing a hairstyle. Is it backless, strapless, sweetheart? The neckline can be the determining factor in how you wear your hair.
• Hair Extensions. Using clip in hair extensions can be a great option for when you’re wearing your hair down. They not only add length, but much needed volume.
• Listen to your gut. Choosing a style that feels most like you is going to feel the best. We understand that you want to look like yourself, but a more perfected version.

BRIDAL HAIR TRIAL

Trials are so important for so many reasons. Not only does the trial give you a chance to meet with your stylist beforehand, but it takes the stress out of wondering how your bridal vision will come to light on your wedding day. This also helps things run smoothly on your special day. Your stylist has already tested the look out on you once before, which means no unexpected surprises! Spending up to 3 hours with our new Bride’s, we ensure each of our Bride’s leave our studio feeling like the most perfected version of themselves.

One of the first questions we get asked when a client books their trial is “When should I wash my hair, before, or on the day of my trial?”. Every stylist is different when it comes to this debate, but we usually like to recommend washing and blow drying your hair the day before your trial. Freshly washed hair is not the easiest to work with-it can be really slippery and can also cause a lot of static, which is never a good look. That being said…please don’t come to your trial with hair that hasn’t been washed for 3 days.  We don’t want your hair to be “dirty”, we just want the hair to produce enough natural oils so that it will be properly balanced, allowing it to hold a curl well and not fall flat immediately.  There are so many products out there now that will help keep the hair feeling fresh, so trust in your stylists advice, but you know your hair best. So if you feel the need to style from freshly washed hair, please let us know ahead of time and we can discuss in more detail.

TIPS FOR THE PERFECT WEDDING HAIRSTYLE:

• Wash and blow dry your hair the day before your trial and your wedding day.  It’s also really helpful to apply some styling balm or a light mouse to your tresses after washing.  This will help to prepare your hair to hold a curl.
• If you need to wash your hair every single day because it produces oil quickly and starts to look darker at the roots-then please wash and blow dry your hair on the morning of your trial and the wedding day.  You know your hair best and we want you to feel comfortable on your wedding day. Please note that hair must be 100% dry before we begin styling on the trial and wedding day.
• If you have naturally curly hair and want to keep your curl as is-just wash and dry your hair normally, using a diffuser if that works for you, and then apply a light serum to help tame any frizz.  If you want a bigger, looser, or softer curl, please make sure to straighten your hair after washing so that we can start fresh the next day when curling your hair and setting to achieve this curl type.
• If you have really straight hair that tends to fall flat-try blowdrying your hair with your head upside-down so that you can achieve more volume.  You can also apply a root lifting cream or mousse to the roots to help get more lift out of your hair.
